Discover DeKalb Convention & Visitors Bureau is the official destination marketing organization for the cities of Chamblee, Doraville, Tucker, Stonecrest, City of Stone Mountain, and unincorporated DeKalb County, GA. Our mission is to promote DeKalb County, GA as a destination for leisure travel, meetings, group tour and travel, sport/recreation events & family reunions. Under the direction of the Executive Director, Discover DeKalb’s team consists of sales, marketing, public relations, community relations and administrative professionals who serve to favorably impact the local economy by executing efforts to attract visitors for unexpected experiences. DeKalb County is Georgia’s third largest county with nearly 750,000 residents spanning across 11 unique local cities, communities and neighborhoods.

Just six miles east of downtown Atlanta, DeKalb is home to some of Georgia’s best attractions such as Georgia’s Most-Visited-Attraction, Stone Mountain Park; Fernbank Museum of Natural History, Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area, David J. Sencer CDC Museum, and Buford Highway’s International Corridor.

As the official tourism agency for DeKalb County, Discover DeKalb offers extensive support to various partner agencies, groups and organizations within the following markets: International, Sports/Recreation, Film/Entertainment, LGBT, SMERF, Association, Government, Corporate and Group Services.

Assistant General Manager – SeaQuest

SUMMARY

Our goal at SeaQuest is to ensure guests have a one-of-a-kind experience interacting with animals from all over the world. SeaQuest is looking for an Assistant General Manager who will enhance the guest experience by creating a warm, inviting, and energetic environment throughout the aquarium. The Assistant General Manager is responsible for hiring, training, and directing up to fifty full-time and part-time Team Members throughout the facility. This job description may not be inclusive of all assigned duties, responsibilities, or aspects of the job described. It may be amended at any time at the sole discretion of the employer.

Pay: Up to $50,000 per year depending on experience plus monthly commission and bi-weekly bonuses                    

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain proper inventory levels
  • Ensure guest experience and interaction standards are met
  • Follow and enforce company standard operating procedures ( SOPs )
  • Follow and enforce accounting processes
  • Motivate and influence employees, peers, and other staff
  • Manage budget and daily expenses
  • Ensure compliance with marketing, theming, and branding
  • Promote and maintain the Brand and Culture within the aquarium
  • Develop, maintain and grow the company’s business
  • Account for the Key Performance Indicators

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE     

  • A Degree in the related field is preferred but not necessary

REQUIREMENTS

Assistant General Manager Requirements:

  • 3+ prior management experience
  • Positive, team-driven, Relentless Continuous Improvement attitude
  • Attractions/entertainment experience highly preferred
  • Experience with animals is a plus
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Effectively communicate information verbally and in writing
  • Excellent mentoring, coaching and people management skills
  • Proficiency with cloud, PC and MS Office and general tech skills
  • Be a strong self-motivator
  • Strong management and personnel development capabilities
  • Ability to work weekends and selected holidays
